A detailed hydrothermal investigation of a helical micro double-tube heat exchanger for a wide range of helix pitch length

The present study was numerically inquired the heat transfer performance and fluid flow characteristic of a helical micro double-tube exchanger (HMDTHX) using finite volume method. tube length considered to be constantly equal 30 mm, 12 different configurations were modeled by changing in turn number pitch (P) for Reynolds numbers 50, 100, 150, 200. findings indicated that would enhance applying any helix angle straight tube. However, it had an optimum point which varied (Re). Rising Re caused overall coefficient (OHTC), pressure drop, pumping power augment all cases. Increasing P reduced OHTC, maximum points between = 0.5 3. Maximum (OHTC) enhancement 45% 200 2. Also, effectiveness 11.5% 2 Moreover, 42% increment achieved power, friction factor at Shear stress 100 showed values are almost same 1. Then increasing P, shear decreases. While, is seen temperature distribution same, but difference average temperature, 3.2 K tubes. Finally, investigating velocity contour, determined secondary through HMDTHX, affected centrifugal force, existed, enhancing turbulency rate.
